Description
What is Adipotide?Adipotide is a synthetic peptidomimetic compound consisting of two functional domains: a targeting sequence (CKGGRAKDC) that binds to prohibitin, a receptor found on the blood vessels supplying white adipose tissue, and a pro-apoptotic sequence (D(KLAKLAK)2) that disrupts mitochondrial membranes.
By selectively targeting the vasculature of fat tissue, adipotide is designed to induce apoptosis (programmed cell death) in adipose tissue blood vessel cells, cutting off the blood supply to fat deposits. This approach represents a fundamentally different mechanism from other weight-management compounds.
In preclinical studies on obese primates, adipotide demonstrated significant reductions in body weight and improvements in insulin resistance. However, researchers noted reversible kidney-related effects that require further investigation.
Adipotide is an experimental compound not approved by any regulatory agency. It is sold strictly for laboratory and research purposes only.
