Description
What is Tesamorelin?Tesamorelin is a synthetic analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) consisting of 44 amino acids with a trans-3-hexenoic acid modification at the N-terminus. Tesamorelin is the only GHRH analog that has received FDA approval.
Tesamorelin was approved by the FDA in 2010 for the reduction of excess abdominal fat in HIV-infected patients with lipodystrophy. It works by stimulating the pituitary gland to produce and release growth hormone in a pulsatile, physiological manner.
Beyond its approved indication, tesamorelin has been studied for effects on visceral adiposity, cognitive function in aging populations, liver fat reduction, and metabolic parameters. It is unique among GH-related peptides in having a completed regulatory pathway.
Research-grade tesamorelin is not equivalent to FDA-approved version and is sold strictly for laboratory and research purposes only.
