Description
What is BAC Water?Bacteriostatic water is a sterile, non-pyrogenic preparation of water for injection containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. It is the standard diluent used in research laboratories for reconstituting lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides.
Unlike sterile water, which must be used immediately and discarded after a single use, bacteriostatic water’s benzyl alcohol preservative inhibits bacterial growth, allowing multi-dose access for up to 28 days after the first puncture. This makes it the preferred reconstitution solvent for research peptides that require repeated sampling.
Bacteriostatic water is compatible with the vast majority of research peptides. In rare cases where a compound is sensitive to benzyl alcohol, product documentation will specify an alternative solvent.
